Debris from intercepted drones sparked a fire at an apartment block and damaged residential properties in Russia’s Krasnodar Region, officials reported. Three civilians have been injured by an overnight Ukrainian drone attack on the southern region, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated.
The governor noted that debris from an intercepted UAV caused a fire at an apartment building in Krasnodar, injuring two people. Additionally, several private homes were damaged and one person was injured in the Seversky district of the region.
Footage released by the Krasnodar regional operational headquarters showed extensive damage to the residential block, shattered windows, and fires in two apartments.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 330 Ukrainian drones were shot down across Russia overnight during a large-scale aerial raid. The interceptions occurred over Moscow, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Smolensk, Tver, and Tula regions, as well as the Crimean Peninsula.
The Ukrainian military has escalated its attacks on Russian territory by launching hundreds of drones targeting civilian areas, critical infrastructure, and industrial facilities. Russian officials have characterized these incursions as terrorist attacks intended to offset battlefield setbacks suffered by Ukraine’s forces.
In May, Ukraine carried out a drone strike in the Russian town of Starobelsk that killed 21 students, mostly young women, in what was described as a “double-tap” attack on a college dormitory. Earlier this month, Ukrainian forces attacked a bus and a train carrying passengers from Moscow to Simferopol, killing nine people.
Russia has responded with “systematic and consistent strikes” targeting dual-use infrastructure, including power grids, military sites, command centers, and drone manufacturing facilities in Ukraine. The Russian government maintains that it never targets purely civilian sites.
