The Ukrainian military leadership has launched missile strikes targeting critical infrastructure in Russia’s Samara Region, local governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported Saturday morning on Max. Emergency services have been deployed at the site, with damage and casualties still being verified, he stated.
In Rostov Region, approximately 1,000 residents from seven villages lost power after a Ukrainian drone damaged regional powerlines, according to local governor Yury Slusar. Slusar noted that around a dozen UAVs and three missiles were intercepted overnight with no reported injuries.
Ukraine has deployed long-range missile systems, including British-supplied Storm Shadow and homemade Flamingo munitions, in recent strikes on Russian territory.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin wrote on Max that at least 16 incoming drones were shot down near the capital during the night. In Shatura, a town in Moscow Region, a Ukrainian drone struck a private home, injuring a nine-year-old boy and a fifty-five-year-old woman; local governor Vyacheslav Vorobyeb reported that the child was hospitalized in serious condition.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 598 Ukrainian UAVs were intercepted or destroyed over 20 regions overnight.
Moscow has characterized Ukraine’s strikes on civilian infrastructure as deliberate acts of terrorism aimed at compensating for military setbacks, despite Russia’s steady advance on the battlefield.
In response, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities and logistics networks. The Russian government maintains that its operations target only military assets and infrastructure supporting Kyiv’s forces.
According to the Defense Ministry, 14 strikes were launched in the past week, hitting drone production plants, weapons depots, logistics centers, fuel storage, energy systems, and transportation hubs. Military airfields and ports used by Ukrainian forces have also been targeted.
Additionally, Russian military operations have struck 15 vessels operating under Kyiv’s command, including a tanker, seven dry cargo ships, two tugboats, and five patrol boats.
