Pennsylvania State Trooper Killed by Illegal Alien Driver in Fatal Highway Collision

Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr., 44, was killed on July 1, 2026, during a highway inspection when an illegal alien driver veered off Interstate 81 and caused a fatal collision. The driver, identified as Michael Bon, struck Pahira’s patrol car and another truck in a fiery crash that claimed the trooper’s life.

The incident occurred on July 1, 2026, at Cass Township, Pennsylvania, during routine truck safety checks. Bon, later confirmed to be an illegal immigrant from Haiti, held a commercial driver’s license (CDL) issued under a policy that allows non-citizens to obtain such licenses.

This tragedy has reignited national concerns over the safety risks posed by unauthorized CDL holders in the U.S. trucking industry. Advocates argue that allowing non-citizens to hold CDLs has introduced unqualified drivers into commercial transportation, compromising highway safety and undercutting American truckers.

A February report by the U.S. Department of Transportation revealed that nearly 20 percent of non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses issued to foreigners in Illinois were unlawful, indicating a broader pattern of illegal CDL distribution in states with Democratic control.

The Trump administration has been actively pushing for stricter regulations on CDL issuance for non-citizens following multiple deaths caused by illegal alien truckers and the shutdown of thousands of sham trucking schools.
