ICE Arrests Surge to Record 50,000 in July Under Trump Administration

New data from a project at the University of California, Berkeley shows U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 49,571 migrants during July—marking the highest monthly total of President Donald J. Trump’s second term.

This represents a 15 percent increase over June’s 43,021 arrests and a 70 percent rise since February’s 29,241. The agency averaged approximately 1,433 daily arrests in July alone. Texas and Florida accounted for nearly 20,000 of these apprehensions, reflecting the extensive use of 287g agreements that facilitate collaboration between local and federal law enforcement.

The record-breaking figures surpass previous monthly arrest totals under President Trump’s administration and exceed the peak levels observed during former President Barack Obama’s presidency in 2011. The data also confirms the administration has exceeded its early-month projection of 44,000 arrests for July.
