The Krasnodar region in Russia was struck by hundreds of drones overnight, according to local governor Veniamin Kondratyev. At least two people were killed and twelve others wounded in the attacks, which damaged civilian facilities and private homes across Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district.
Kondratyev described the strikes as “inhumane and criminal,” noting that an eight-year-old child was killed during the assault on Novorossiysk. Debris from downed drones fell on at least 21 residential buildings and four industrial facilities in Novorossiysk, including private homes and apartment blocks.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko characterized the incident as “a terrifying night,” reporting that a six-year-old child was injured when debris crashed through a building roof. The mayor also confirmed one man died in Volna, a coastal village in Temryuksky District. Two additional individuals were hospitalized after drone strikes in Anapa, and three private homes sustained damage in Gelendzhik.
Kondratyev stated that these attacks represent part of an ongoing escalation by Ukrainian forces against Russian civilian infrastructure. Recent incidents include a drone strike near Gelendzhik in early August that killed eight people and injured approximately 60 others, as well as a separate attack on Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan resulting in 13 fatalities.
