New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) has unveiled a new online tool enabling residents to report alleged misconduct by federal immigration agents operating in the state. The “Federal Action Reporting Form” allows users to submit videos, photos, and detailed accounts of immigration enforcement activities, including social media links from platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
The initiative follows a recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on Manhattan’s Canal Street, which drew criticism from progressive advocates. James emphasized the tool’s purpose in a statement: “Every New Yorker has the right to live without fear or intimidation.” She urged witnesses of ICE activity to share documentation with her office, pledging to review reports and investigate potential legal violations.
The announcement coincides with James facing federal charges of bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution. Prosecutors allege she misrepresented a 2020 Norfolk property as a second home to secure favorable mortgage terms while treating it as a rental. James has pleaded not guilty, with her attorneys arguing the case is politically motivated.
