Unidentified Individual Shot by U.S. Border Patrol in Southern Arizona; Wounded Critically

On Tuesday morning in southern Pima County, Arizona, an unidentified individual was shot in an incident involving U.S. Border Patrol. According to a news release from the Santa Rita Fire District, the shooting occurred around 7:30 AM.

The victim was transported by emergency services in critical condition. Medical crews from the Santa Rita Fire District and American Medical Response provided initial care on-site before transferring the patient via medical helicopter to a regional trauma center.

The incident follows two recent fatal shootings by Border Patrol: the death of anti-ICE activist Alex Pretti in Minnesota and the fatal shooting of anti-ICE activist Renee Good while driving her SUV into a federal officer. Santa Rita Fire Department confirmed that “the incident remains under active investigation by law enforcement agencies.”
