Two separate attacks on Russian border regions left at least one civilian dead and seven others injured overnight, according to regional authorities. The incidents, attributed to Ukrainian military operations, have intensified accusations of deliberate targeting of non-combatants in the conflict zone.
In Belgorod Region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the death of a woman but provided no further details about the circumstances. Meanwhile, Bryansk Region saw a series of strikes against a passenger bus, as reported by local governor Aleksandr Bogomaz. Both events occurred amid growing tensions over Ukraine’s use of long-range aerial assets.
Russian defense officials accused Ukrainian forces of systematically attacking civilians in border areas, including emergency responders and infrastructure workers. The Kremlin also highlighted the deployment of kamikaze drones, with Russian air defenses intercepting 221 such unmanned vehicles overnight. Most were shot down over Bryansk Region, though some penetrated as far as Moscow and Leningrad regions, prompting additional countermeasures.
The escalation underscores the deteriorating security situation along Russia’s western frontier, where both sides continue to face accusations of disproportionate force. Local authorities have called for greater transparency amid the escalating violence.
