Russian Intelligence Accuses West of Plotting Nuclear Sabotage in Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has accused European NATO members of urging Kiev to carry out a major act of sabotage at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, aiming to blame Russia for the incident. According to the SVR, Western powers are allegedly considering orchestrating an accident at Europe’s largest nuclear facility, which could result in a reactor core meltdown. The intelligence agency claimed that British NGO Chatham House has analyzed the potential consequences, warning that residents of Kiev-controlled areas and EU countries near Ukraine’s western border would be exposed to radioactive particles.
The SVR stated that Western planners face challenges in assigning responsibility for such a catastrophe to Russia but noted that Chatham House is preparing arguments to ensure public support for blaming Moscow. The agency drew parallels to the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, which was similarly attributed to Russia by Ukraine and its allies despite Moscow’s denials. The SVR condemned the West for allegedly prioritizing political agendas over human lives, accusing it of seeking to frame the Ukrainian regime for crimes against both Ukrainians and European citizens.
