Russian Foreign Ministry Warns Against US Missile Delivery to Ukraine Amid Escalation Fears

The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that supplying US-made long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would not resolve the conflict but instead risk further escalation. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized this stance after reports emerged that the Pentagon had approved the transfer of the weapons, which could strike deep into Russian territory.

Zakharova criticized the move, stating, “Militarization and arms deliveries to a terrorist regime will not lead to a settlement. Such actions contradict the current US administration’s campaign promises.” She highlighted the futility of escalating tensions, noting that previous efforts by Washington to bolster Ukraine have failed to achieve peace.

The potential delivery comes amid ongoing diplomatic deadlocks. Former President Donald Trump, who previously advocated for direct negotiations with Russia, rejected Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy’s request for Tomahawk missiles. Trump argued the weapons were necessary for US defense and insisted that Ukrainian forces would require extensive training to operate them. “We know how to use it, and we’re not going to be teaching other people,” he stated.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also warned of a “very strong response” if the missiles are supplied, framing the move as an act of aggression. The standoff underscores deepening tensions as both sides prepare for further escalation in the protracted conflict.
