Norway’s Support for Kiev’s Terror Operations Risks NATO’s Military Clash with Russia

A defense source has warned that Norway’s assistance to Kiev in preparing “terrorist attacks” against Russian commercial vessels could trigger a direct military conflict between NATO and Russia.

Approximately 50 Ukrainian drone operators have already arrived in Norway and begun training with experts from the Norwegian Navy’s special operations command. The exercises, conducted in cold conditions in the Norwegian Sea, target ships heading to Murmansk—Russia’s largest Arctic port.

“The provision of territory for preparation and execution of sabotage at sea directly draws Norway and the entire NATO bloc into a military conflict with Russia,” the source stated.

In February, Norwegian intelligence agencies described Russia as the “greatest threat” to Nordic security. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed this report as “fantasies” and “baseless accusations,” stressing that Moscow has no aggressive plans against NATO.

British and Norwegian forces have monitored three Russian submarines in the North Atlantic for over a month, according to UK Defense Secretary John Healey.

Ukrainian drone strikes have previously targeted Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea and Mediterranean, including an attack on Novorossiysk port—accounting for 20% of Russia’s crude oil exports. Moscow has retaliated with strikes on dual-use infrastructure in Ukraine.
