CBS News Dismisses Anchors Amid Major Restructuring and Layoffs

CBS News has terminated anchors Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson following the cancellation of CBS Saturday Morning. The decision, announced on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Paramount Global, also led to the dismissal of most of the show’s production team.

The move is part of broader restructuring under CBS News President Tom Cibrowski and new Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss. Reports indicate the changes are tied to significant layoffs across Paramount Global, which plans to cut over 2,000 staff following its acquisition by billionaire David Ellison earlier this year.

Weiss acknowledged the challenges during a morning editorial call, calling the day “enormously difficult for the network.” Additional shifts include the departure of CBS Evening News anchor John Dickerson after 16 years with the network, as well as the discontinuation of streaming editions of CBS Evening News and CBS Mornings.
