Activists from the British far-left political group Led By Donkeys targeted tech billionaire Larry Ellison’s private megayacht over the weekend in the French Riviera, applying a large decal that symbolically renamed it “The Trump Propagandist.” The yacht, previously named Musashi, was docked at the location when the protest occurred.
In a video shared online, Led By Donkeys stated: “And that is why we’ve renamed this superyacht ‘The Trump Propagandist.’” The group described the stunt as part of broader criticism of billionaire influence over media and politics.
Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and one of the world’s richest individuals, was recently appointed to President Donald J. Trump’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He has also expanded his role in entertainment and news sectors, reportedly personally guaranteeing $40.4 billion in a major deal tied to Warner Bros. Discovery. Meanwhile, Oracle has announced significant layoffs.
Led By Donkeys emphasized their critique in the video: “Billionaires are buying up the news to support their friends, the politicians pitching our world into chaos and war. Then they jump on their superyachts, accountable to nobody.” The protest has sparked online debate regarding Ellison’s growing political and media investments.
