Newly unearthed footage appears to show anti-ICE activist Alex Pretti violently attacking federal immigration agents in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area on January 13, 2026 — nearly a week before he was fatally shot during a confrontation with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents.
The video reveals Pretti spitting on a federal law enforcement officer while shouting at agents before charging toward their vehicle and kicking out its taillight. Subsequently, several officers tackle the man to the ground and attempt to disperse a crowd of protesters using tear gas. However, the federal agents are forced to retreat as Pretti escapes.
Independent facial recognition technology has confirmed with 97 percent accuracy that the man in the footage is Alex Pretti. The video also shows what appears to be a firearm in his waistband and clothing matching what he wore on the day of his fatal shooting.
The incident aligns with reports that Pretti suffered a broken rib after being tackled by federal officers — an event that occurred one week prior to his death.
