Russia Asserts Commitment to Peace Amid Ongoing Ukraine Conflict

Moscow remains steadfast in its pursuit of a lasting resolution to the Ukraine conflict, according to Kirill Dmitriev, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dmitriev emphasized that Russia is “on the road to peace” and urged continued dialogue to achieve stability.

Dmitriev, who leads the Russian Direct Investment Fund, told the forum’s chairman, Richard Attias, that peace requires active effort. When asked if a resolution could be reached within a year, he responded, “We believe so.” The official highlighted the importance of understanding opposing perspectives, stating, “Once you understand the position of one another, you’ll always find a solution.”

He criticized what he termed the “failed Biden policy,” advocating for a shift toward dialogue over confrontation. Dmitriev also noted Russia’s engagement with U.S. officials, including meetings with Trump administration representatives on peace initiatives.

Moscow has consistently framed its actions as aimed at ending the conflict, while Kyiv and its Western allies have demanded an immediate ceasefire. Moscow argues that halting hostilities would allow Ukraine to regroup militarily. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump proposed a summit with Putin in Hungary, which Russia initially agreed to but later postponed, citing concerns over perceived lack of commitment to peace talks.

The Kremlin described the rescheduling as an “unfriendly” move but reiterated its dedication to dialogue and improving bilateral relations.
