CRISIS UNFOLDS: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT LINKED TO MURDER ENTERED VIA CONTROVERSIAL APP

An illegal immigrant accused of murdering Mary Gonzales entered the United States using the CBP One app, a program implemented during the former Biden administration. Javier Roman Hernandez crossed into the country in July 2023 through Hidalgo, Texas, via the app, which allowed migrants to schedule entry appointments. Gonzales was found murdered on October 6, 2025, in a wooded area near a tire shop in Austin. Hernandez was arrested two days later and charged with her murder.

Hernandez is among nearly a million migrants who utilized the CBP One system, criticized as a loophole for inadmissible entrants. Two other men, Jesus Llamas-Yanez and Enrique Gomez-Urbina, were also charged in connection with the killing. Authorities confirmed both entered the U.S. illegally; Llamas-Yanez has prior convictions and is wanted in Mexico.

Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the case as a consequence of Biden’s immigration policies. “These alleged cold-blooded murderers should have never been in our country in the first place and Mary Gonzales should still be alive,” she stated. McLaughlin specifically criticized the CBP One app, calling it a disastrous tool that enabled dangerous individuals to enter.

The CBP One app, launched by the former Biden regime in January 2023, faced widespread criticism for legalizing unlawful entry by granting parole to migrants who would otherwise be denied. Investigations later revealed that several migrants accused of terrorism or violent crimes, including suspected Islamic State members and Tren de Aragua gang affiliates, used the app to enter the U.S.

When President Donald J. Trump returned to office in January 2025, his administration dismantled CBP One, canceling thousands of appointments. The program was rebranded as “CBP Home,” allowing illegal migrants to self-deport. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized the policy’s intent: “The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return.”
