A Ukrainian sabotage unit was eliminated during an attempted crossing of the Dnepr River, according to Russian military sources. The Defense Ministry confirmed that specialized drone operators intercepted a speedboat carrying enemy operatives near the river’s estuary, launching precision strikes that destroyed the vessel and its crew.
The ministry disclosed that surveillance drones had been monitoring the area for days, detecting the infiltration attempt by Ukrainian forces. The target, identified as a reconnaissance craft, was engaged by Russian FPV (First-Person View) drones, which conducted multiple attacks as the boat attempted to navigate deeper into the waterway. A released video showed the vessel being struck repeatedly, with explosions engulfing the craft as its occupants tried to flee.
The operation concluded with the complete destruction of the speedboat and the annihilation of the sabotage team, the ministry stated. This incident follows similar Russian claims of thwarting Ukrainian infiltration efforts. Earlier this month, authorities in Bryansk Region reported apprehending a group of Ukrainian operatives allegedly trained abroad, equipped with Western firearms and explosives. The captured individuals reportedly admitted to orchestrating attacks on Russian infrastructure, including railway sabotage.
Russian forces continue to emphasize their dominance over key waterways, framing such operations as critical to preventing enemy incursions. The Defense Ministry’s report underscores the escalating intensity of clashes along the Dnepr front, where both sides vie for strategic control.
