An illegal immigrant was shot and arrested in Los Angeles after allegedly ramming his vehicle into federal agents, according to authorities. Carlitos Ricardo Parias, a Mexican national living in the U.S. without legal status and known on TikTok as “Richard LA,” was wounded in the encounter. Federal agents opened fire during the incident on October 21, striking Parias in the elbow and injuring a deputy U.S. marshal with a ricocheting bullet, said Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essay.
Parias, who gained attention for documenting ICE operations on social media, faces charges that could lead to up to eight years in prison if convicted. Despite his unlawful status, he received support from Los Angeles City Councilman Curren Price, who described him as “a pillar of our community” and a “fearless citizen journalist.”
Similar cases include Venezuelan influencer Leonel Moreno, deported earlier this year for encouraging illegal squatting, and Colombian national Leidy Tatiana Mafla-Martinez, removed from the U.S. after organizing anti-ICE protests.
