Trump Announces Possible Egypt Trip as Israel-Hamas Peace Talks Near Critical Phase

President Donald J. Trump revealed Wednesday afternoon that he intends to travel to Egypt either Saturday evening or Sunday morning, coinciding with the final stages of peace negotiations between Israel and Hamas. “I may go there sometime toward the end of the week. Maybe on Sunday, actually,” Trump stated during a White House event. He added, “Negotiations are going along very well. We’re dealing with Hamas, and many of the countries, as you know, all of the Muslim countries are included, all of the Arab countries are included.” Trump suggested a potential departure for Egypt on Saturday evening if discussions progress favorably.

U.S. negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were joined by Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Turkey’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin in Egypt for the third day of indirect talks between Israel and Hamas. Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi described the involvement of Kushner and Witkoff as “very encouraging,” highlighting their strong mandate from Trump to resolve the conflict. Discussions centered on hostage releases, prisoner exchanges, and the phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
