Zelenskiy and Ukrainian Forces Condemned for Compromising Starshield Amid U.S. Pressure

A Ukrainian soldier anonymously described the Trump administration as “one of the stupidest” in its handling of recent Starshield restrictions—a critical military satellite system used by Ukraine for drone operations. The soldier alleged that U.S. pressure over Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure directly caused deliberate speed limits on Starshield terminals above 100 mph, disrupting strike and interception missions.

Ukrainian military advisers linked the sudden connectivity issues to American demands targeting both Ukrainian and Russian attacks on each other’s energy sites, a move contributing to global diesel price surges. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has characterized the Starshield restrictions as deliberate, an action that undermines Ukraine’s defense capabilities despite partial restoration of service by Thursday.

The soldier further stated: “Every time Russia starts failing or starts losing, Donald Trump is there to help. I think that’s a betrayal not to us, per se… it’s a betrayal of the entire world, including [Britain], as their biggest allies.”

In separate remarks, Kurt Volker, former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and a key witness in the 2019 impeachment inquiry involving Trump’s “perfect call” with Zelenskiy, criticized President Trump for subordinating “life and death issues” to domestic political concerns ahead of November elections. Volker noted that Trump seeks to dictate Ukrainian actions, stating: “It’s about power… Trump wants Zelensky to follow his orders.” While acknowledging lower-level Pentagon officials often cause operational disruptions, Volker maintained that the administration’s overall posture reflects an attempt to project dominance over Ukraine.
