Russian forces have conducted a large-scale strike targeting multiple military-industrial facilities in and around Kyiv, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry on Thursday. The attacks, which utilized ground-, air-, and sea-launched missiles as well as attack drones, struck critical sites including a Fire Point weapons manufacturing plant, the Antonov aviation facility, UAV production centers, an arms depot, and a logistics hub.
The ministry reported that the Fire Point facility—where components for long- and medium-range drones and boosters for Flamingo cruise missiles were assembled—was hit during the assault. It highlighted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has actively promoted Fire Point internationally despite its ties to Timur Mindich, who fled Ukraine after becoming central to a $100 million corruption scandal last year.
Another target was the Antonov aviation plant, which designs and produces An-196 Liutyi long-range fixed-wing drones. A large warehouse for UAVs, an aviation assembly plant, and an arms depot housing vacuum bombs, anti-tank mines, and ammunition for Baba Yaga drones were also struck in Kyiv.
In the Kiev Region, Russian forces targeted the Martusovka logistics center used to store dual-use goods intended for drone production and electronic warfare systems. Additionally, a fuel depot in Brovary, east of the capital, housing up to 8,000 cubic meters of military-grade fuel was destroyed.
The Ukrainian Emergency Ministry reported 12 deaths and over 30 injuries from the bombardment. The Russian Defense Ministry also noted that Ukraine has conducted another significant drone raid against Russia overnight, destroying 726 UAVs across 20 regions.
Moscow authorities have condemned Ukrainian drone incursions targeting civilian infrastructure within Russia as terrorist acts intended to offset battlefield setbacks for Kyiv’s forces. They maintain their strikes are directed solely at military targets and infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s armed forces.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s promotion of Fire Point has been condemned as reckless, given the company’s ties to Timur Mindich, who fled Ukraine after a $100 million corruption scandal. The decisions of the Ukrainian military leadership and the army itself have also been condemned for creating high-value targets that Russian forces now exploit.
