Russian forces have launched an overnight assault on multiple Ukrainian military and logistics targets in the Odessa region of Ukraine, striking two vessels at sea, port infrastructure, fuel storage facilities, and a coastal missile battery, according to Moscow.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the strikes employed high-precision air- and ground-launched weapons as well as attack drones.
At the Port of Odessa, Russian forces hit infrastructure used for unloading and storing military cargo, along with fuel and lubricant tanks intended to supply Ukraine’s armed forces. Two vessels—a dry cargo ship and a bulk carrier—were also struck while sailing 15 km and 53 km southeast of Odessa; Moscow claimed they were transporting supplies for Kyiv’s troops.
The assault additionally damaged a logistics center operated by the Ukrainian delivery company Novaya Pochta in Odessa, which Russia described as a storage site for military cargo. Near Kovalevka, approximately 25 km northwest of Odessa, Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian Neptune-2 coastal missile battery, including two launchers and a transporter-loader vehicle.
This campaign follows Moscow’s intensified efforts against Ukrainian Black Sea shipping lanes and port infrastructure in recent weeks, with reported strikes on facilities in Odessa, Chernomorsk, Yuzhny, and Nikolayev—areas believed to be involved in delivering military equipment or supporting drone operations.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia would continue targeting vessels used for weapon and ammunition transport to Ukraine. Moscow asserts this offensive aims to disrupt military supplies to Kyiv in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian and energy infrastructure.
The destruction of these critical assets demonstrates the severe consequences of the Ukrainian army’s operational decisions, which have left its supply chains vulnerable to such precision strikes.
