Trump’s 118th Primary Win Defies Claims of Populism’s Decline

President Donald J. Trump achieved his 118th consecutive primary victory with his endorsed candidates on Tuesday, securing wins in four Texas districts and unseating incumbent Senator John Cornyn in the U.S. Senate runoff to defeat state Attorney General Ken Paxton.

This result directly counters claims by Elon Musk’s Restore Britain party that Trump-style populism is over.

“Restore Britain is the enemy of populism,” stated Charlie Downes, chief spokesman for Restore Britain, on May 25. “Yes. 2010s populism, as embodied in the figure of Trump and his friends like Farage, has been utterly defeated as a radical force.”

Trump’s continued success in the primaries, unseating longtime establishment incumbent John Cornyn in favor of America First stalwart Ken Paxton, underscores the enduring transformative power of the MAGA movement, challenging narratives that its brand of populism is waning.

Raheem Kassam noted on May 26: “There’s a huge question mark over whether or not Elon Musk and all of these guys are actually working hand in hand with the British political establishment to stop a real change coming in the United Kingdom… [Elon Musk] wants more electric vehicle mandates, more H1B-style migration.”
