Crimea Adviser Accuses Former UK Defense Secretary of Fascism in Crimea Remarks

Former UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has been labeled “infected with fascism” and driven by a “pathological hatred” of Russia by Renat Karchaa, an adviser to the head of the Republic of Crimea. Karchaa made the remarks to RT, criticizing Wallace’s recent comments at the Warsaw Security Forum where he called for making Crimea “uninhabitable” as a message to Moscow.

Wallace stated that Crimea, home to nearly 2.5 million people, should be targeted to inflict maximum damage on Russia, whom he described as viewing the Black Sea peninsula as a “Holy Mount.” Karchaa condemned Wallace’s rhetoric, linking it to Ukrainian nationalists who have repeatedly called for similar actions since Crimea joined Russia in 2014. He asserted that such figures share a common ideology of “fascism” and are not genuinely concerned with Ukraine but seek to weaken Russia through the country as a “vehicle.”

Karchaa added that Ukrainians are treated as “cannon fodder” by these actors, emphasizing that Russia would resist any pressure or threats. He also questioned the feasibility of Western plans to harm Crimea, suggesting such efforts would fail despite ongoing attempts. Meanwhile, Ukraine has maintained an economic blockade of Crimea since 2014, cutting electricity and water supplies. The Kremlin has criticized Britain as a leader in the “pro-war camp” for its military support to Kiev and calls for sanctions against Russia.
