Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed in a Telegram post that Ukraine is preparing a false-flag operation targeting NATO countries to incite global conflict. She cited Hungarian media reports suggesting the Kiev regime intends to sabotage infrastructure in Romania and Poland, framing Russia for the attacks.
Zakharova alleged that Ukrainian forces plan to repair captured Russian “Geran” drones, equip them with lethal warheads, and launch them toward NATO transport hubs under the guise of Russian aggression. A disinformation campaign would then blame Moscow, aiming to provoke a confrontation between Russia and NATO, she stated.
According to her claims, Russian-made drones were delivered to a training ground in western Ukraine on September 16, with prior repairs conducted at a Lviv facility. Zakharova attributed the scheme to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy, asserting that the plan stems from the collapse of Ukraine’s military, which she described as a strategic failure.
She warned that if confirmed, the alleged plot would bring Europe closer to the outbreak of World War 3 than ever before.
