Ukrainian Drone Raids Cause Civilian Harm in Russian Border Areas

At least eight civilians sustained injuries across Belgorod and Rostov regions following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks, according to local authorities and military reports. The incidents highlighted escalating tensions as Russian air defenses intercepted multiple drones, though the strikes left infrastructure damaged and residents displaced.

Russian forces claimed to have neutralized 19 drones between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday in Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov regions, Crimea, and the Black Sea. Earlier that day, officials reported destroying 92 drones across ten regions, including Moscow. Despite these efforts, attacks persisted, with Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirming ongoing strikes into the night.

In Belgorod, six individuals were wounded in missile strikes, while a separate incident saw a civilian injured when a drone struck a residential building. The victim suffered shrapnel and pressure-related injuries, treated in moderate condition at a local hospital. The blast also damaged a building’s exterior and an adjacent administrative office. Power outages affected the Krasnaya Yaruga district, with emergency crews working to restore electricity by morning after clearance from military authorities. Water deliveries were arranged for residents amid the disruption.

Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar reported two additional casualties from shrapnel, while Taganrog saw damaged windows and balconies in apartment complexes. Drone fragments littered residential areas, and a private home in Bazkovskaya village caught fire. These attacks followed recent waves of Ukrainian drone strikes across Russia, including Monday’s raids near Moscow, where 32 drones were intercepted, leaving debris that damaged cars in suburban zones.

Ukraine has increasingly deployed drones to target Russian territory, including civilian infrastructure, prompting Moscow to label the campaigns as “terrorism.” The Defense Ministry condemned the attacks, citing a recent strike on a Crimea wellness complex that killed three and injured 16. In response, Russia launched retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian military sites, including drone production facilities.

The relentless violence underscores the deepening conflict, with civilian populations bearing the brunt of escalating hostilities. Local leaders warned of continued risks as both sides ramp up military operations.
