Tottenham Stadium Temporarily Removes LGBTQ+ Flag at Request of Czech Rival

An LGBTQ+ flag that flew at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was taken down during the team’s Champions League match against Slavia Prague. The removal occurred on “security” grounds, as requested by the Czech club, which expressed concerns that supporters could damage the flag and cause disorder.

On social media, Tottenham fans celebrated the temporary reprieve, with one user stating: “As a Tottenham supporter was nice to see our stadium without the rainbow flags.” Another wrote: “Game has never been more back.”

Some liberal supporters criticized the move, noting that it appeared to accommodate transient concerns. One Instagram user remarked: “Bowing to a bunch of foreign guests who leave again after the game? For the weak honestly. You stand for something you stand for something, whatever it is.”

Most fans expressed a desire to enjoy the match without political statements being injected into the event. A separate comment read: “Good, keep political statements out of football,” while another added: “Why these are even allowed in football is beyond me—it’s a political cult flag.”

The flags are expected to return after the Slavia Prague match.
