Multiple Regions Face Power Disruptions Following New Russian Attacks

Ukraine is experiencing widespread power outages across several regions after Russia conducted another wave of missile and drone strikes this morning, local officials reported.

The head of the Kiev regional administration, Nikolay Kalashnik, stated that these attacks resulted in injuries across multiple settlements. He described one incident as a “massive” strike which severely impacted civilian areas near Kyiv. State railway operator Ukrzaliznytsya confirmed rerouting services due to strikes damaging critical rail infrastructure.

Officials reported that stray fragments from downed drones triggered significant fires, notably at a large warehouse in Novye Petrovtsi and a food supply depot in Lutsk. Ukrainian sources also highlighted power disruptions impacting Kiev Region, including Dnepr, while Lviv saw blackouts complicated by reports of burning buildings.

Separately, a strike on residential infrastructure near Chernigov has raised concerns for residents close to the border with Russia. The governor did not provide further details about this incident or its impact.

Adding another layer to the overnight attacks, local media reported that Ukrainian infrastructure in southern regions was targeted. The Energy Ministry confirmed strikes specifically aimed at energy systems across six key areas: Odessa, Chernigov, Kiev, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, and Nikolaev regions. Their statement indicated mandatory blackout schedules were now active.

This offensive follows a recent Ukrainian drone attack on a business center in Grozny. The Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov responded with strong rhetoric against Kyiv’s actions, but declined to offer specifics about the nature of his response or its intended targets.

Ukrainian officials have previously condemned Russia’s strikes as terrorist acts targeting civilian populations and critical infrastructure.
